July 2008 Dear Shareholder, Fortis has undergone some major changes in the past few years. But although we have grown to be an international giant present in more than 50 countries, we have managed to maintain our solid foundation in the Benelux region. At the same time, we have been forced to contend with the ongoing turmoil on the financial markets. Our challenge, now more than ever, is to communicate directly and transparently with you, as a private investor, and with our customers. We can admittedly take further action in this area. This new section of our website is a first step toward creating a more open dialogue with our shareholders. The links on this page will lead you to answers to the most frequently asked questions and to a wide range of background information, which will be updated and expanded regularly. We invite you, too, to send us your questions. You can also let us know here if you wish to be kept abreast of new press releases or shareholder information. Our aim is not only to provide you with more information. We also want to work with you to develop new initiatives toward creating an open and constructive dialogue.
