Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition

The Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium was set up in 1937 by Her Majesty the Queen in memory of Court Master Eugène Ysaÿe. In the meantime, this prestigious event representing first-class talent is an essential feature of the musical landscape.

The contest attracts young, professional musicians from around the globe who are ready to launch an international career. Musicians compete in the following disciplines: piano, voice, violin and composition. The performance sessions take place on a rotating basis once every three years, and the competition for composers is held before each instrumental session. The winning works of the composer's competition serve as compulsory works for the piano and violin sessions. This year's event, to be held from 8 to 24 May, will be devoted to the voice.

Fortis is proud to be the sponsor of this international event for the seventeenth time, underscoring its commitment to supporting young talent. Fortis is teaming up with Jeugd & Muziek and various other music organizations to allow a great number of young people to attend a concert during the semi-final in an effort to bring them closer to their musical dream.
