Fulfilling our clients’ needs starts with the development of high-quality products. We believe that clients will increasingly become aware of sustainability issues and this will raise the demand for sustainable products. Fortis has embraced this business opportunity by offering a range of sustainable consumer products.
Energy Saving Credit
To encourage energy-efficient building and renovation, Fortis is giving a helping hand to customers who want to switch to energy-saving appliances. The Energy Saving Credit, launched in Belgium in January 2006, is a credit facility for longer-term solutions that will reduce energy bills year-on-year. It has a unique, fixed interest rate of 5.5 per cent which is lower than that for other credits. Since its launch, 20 per cent of regular household and renovation loans have been transformed into Energy.
Mortgage with energy-saving report
An energy-saving report can be requested in conjunction with every new private home mortgage offered by Fortis ASR in the Netherlands. By extending its mortgage offering in this way, the unit is responding to the introduction of a compulsory energy label for house sales as of 1 January 2008.
Clean Car Credit
We offer Belgian motorists a special car-financing package to encourage them to reduce CO2 emissions and produce fewer greenhouse gases.
Clean Car Insurance
Fortis gives a 10 per cent discount on car insurance for environmentally-friendly vehicles like hybrid and biofuel cars. The product is available in Belgium and the Netherlands.
Innovative and sustainable agricultural finance
In 2007 Fortis started offering sustainable finance solutions for our customers in the agriculture sector by offering customers-fitted credit for sustainable investments
Fortis Life Climate Change
In January 2008, Fortis Insurance Belgium launched a new fund within its investment-linked insurance offering. The Fortis Life Climate Change fund comprises a portfolio featuring all the sectors involved in combating climate change.
Sustainable Savings
In Belgium, we offer sustainable savings accounts ('Krekelsparen'/'Cigale') from which annual donations are made to two partners: Netwerk Vlaanderen and Réseau Financement Alternatif.
