About Fortis
|
Through our Foundations, we aim to contribute to social inclusion of disadvantaged groups in the societies in which we are active, through a combination of Fortis staff voluntary work and philanthropy. The fundamental idea behind the Fortis Foundations concept is involvement in local communities. Our commitment to social outreach began back in 1996, when we established our first Fortis Foundation in Belgium and our second foundation in 2001 in the Netherlands. We’ve come a long way since then, with Foundations now active also in Luxembourg, France and Poland – with the UK, Turkey and Ireland to follow soon. Each of our Foundations is committed to our general objective of contributing to social inclusion through philanthropy and volunteer work, but this global objective is adapted and further fine-tuned on a local basis. Funding and the selection of activities are locally defined and executed; each of our Foundations has its own distinct ‘flavour’.
