We would like to hear your opinion

Corporate social responsibility can be a complex field, involving a wide range of interests. What’s more, as an international financial services provider, Fortis acts as an intermediary in value chains that are often long and intricate. In view of this complexity, we are keen to support our CSR commitment by taking an active part in a number of international networks. Membership of these networks enables us to compare our sustainability performance with that of our peers; to contribute to the international guidelines by which our policies and performance are measured; and to share ideas, challenges and opportunities with a diverse group of stakeholders.

UNEP FI

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is a unique global partnership between UNEP and over 160 financial institutions who are signatories to the UNEP FI Statements. Signatory companies pledge to integrate environmental considerations in all aspects of their operations. For Fortis, membership of UNEP FI gives us the opportunity to network with other prominent financial institutions, to engage with representatives from the public and private sectors and to share best practices. In so doing, it makes a meaningful contribution to our ambition to grow in an environmentally sustainable way.

Global Compact

The UN Global Compact is a framework for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. Fortis’s endorsement of the Global Compact helps us advance our internal CSR agenda by providing Policy Dialogues, Learning, Local Networks and Partnership Projects.

UN Principles of Responsible Investment

On 5 October 2007, Fortis Investments announced that it had signed the ‘Principles for Responsible Investment’, a United Nations initiative. An overview of the principles can be found on the UNPRI website, www.unpri.org. Please click here to learn more about how we incorporate the UN PRI in our investments practices.

CSR Europe

CSR Europe (http://www.csreurope.org) is the continent’s leading business network for corporate social responsibility. It currently has over 70 multinational corporations as members. Belonging to this network gives Fortis the opportunity to exchange ideas with other organisations about integrating CSR into daily business practices.
